Maritime operations provide opportunities to work on a commercial boats and ships, including among others, as a general purpose hand, coxswain, Master 5, Master 4 or as marine engine driver (MED 3, MED 2 and MED I) , even international opportunities on super yachts and ships with STWC95.

SkillsOne visited TAFE NSW Sydney Institute to take a look at the marine simulator used in training for students undertaking various marine studies courses.

The life-sized marine simulator at Sydney Institute provides students with hands on experience in navigation, steering, mooring, radar operations, charting, controlling vessels in poor weather conditions, rescuing a person overboard and braving an 8m swell. It's the closest thing to actually being at sea.
