East Coast Apprenticeships are a group training organisation based in Strathpine, Brisbane. Their Structured Training and Employment Program has resulted in Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders gaining job placements.
CEO Alan Sparks is passionate about addressing the skills shortage by helping both young and mature age people into apprenticeships and traineeships.
As a result of East Coast's Indigneous and Torres Strait Islander support program, Makita Baird completed her traineeship in business administration and is now a receptionist with the Pine Rivers Shire Council.
With aspirations to work with the community in events for local children, she hopes for a long term future with the Pine Rivers Shire Council.
