National Skills Week scarf & tie design competition winner

Briana's participation in many theatrical out-of-school activities led her to pursue a career in theatre costume design and pattern making.

Briana jumped at the opportunity to enter the National Skills Week Competition. "My designs are inspired by Australian nature."

"I wanted my designs to have a modern appeal- something that could be worn in the future and in any environment. I am so glad I was given this wonderful opportunity."

Winning the competition has also given Briana the confidence to now look at pattern design as a possible future career path.

"The great thing about studying at TAFE, you are exposed to so many different opportunities and it can lead you to a career option that you never thought possible."

Briana finishes her Diploma of Applied Fashion in 2011 and is hoping to enrol in the Diploma of Costume for Performance at Ultimo College in 2012.

Senator the Hon. Chris Evans was personally presented with his tie at the National Skills Week Launch, National Press Club Canberra on September 21st, 2011.
