A Real Estate Certificate and a bit of initiative can lead to big returns in the property market. We meet property consultant Michael Murray who decided at school he wanted to be a real estate agent and completed his real estate certificate while also completing his HSC.
Peter and his wife, Sally-Anne Shields (who completed her Real Estate certificate at Dover Heights TAFE in 1988) opened their business 'Shields Gillman Real Estate' in Woollahra. They pride their success on a personal and fresh approach to sales and property management, covering the entire Eastern Suburbs area.
Michael, in Year 11 (2003) with big dreams to become the best real estate agent in the country, contacted Shields Gillman Real Estate for some guidance. They employed him to work on Saturdays whilst Michael was still at Waverley College and already studying for his Real Estate Certificate.
At the start of 2005, Michael commenced in a full time role with Shields Gillman Real Estate, and within months he made a strong impact with clients and prospects alike. Michael loves his career, and is keen to provide the best possible service and the best possible results.

All real estate agents must complete a nationally accredited Real Estate certificate to begin working as an agent. These can be done at a TAFE or private college. Accreditation and recognition is overseen by the Real Estate Institute of Australia. With an unusual climate in Australian housing, skilled Real Estate agents need to be at the top of their game to guarantee sales and manage rentals.
