2012 AgriFood Skills Australia Environmental Scan Launch
As the Australian Government encourages working families to consider jobs in regional and mining communities, AgriFood Skills Australia reports that silent and unprecedented structural change is taking place in the $200 billion Agrifood Industry. Structural change that is seen taking place in the Agrifood Industry reinforces the need for talented workers and families to work, live and stay in regional Australia.
AgriFood Skills Australia's release of its 2012 Environmental Scan 'Disruption or Evolution' highlights the vital importance of industry and government coordination and leadership to tackle the challenges of workforce and skills shortages in the Agrifood Industry.
SkillsOne attended the event in Canberra on Tuesday the 19th of June 2012, and met with the Honourable Sid Sidebottom MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Arthur Blewitt, CEO if AgriFood Skills Australia; Geoff Richards, Chair, Board of Directors for AgriFood Skills Australia; and Linda White, General Manager, Industry Workforce Branch of the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE), who all shared their reactions to the Environmental Scan and to the state of the Agriculture Industry.
