Group Training Australia launch the ‘Todays Skills: Tomorrows Leaders’ program 2012

Now, more than ever, skilled Australians are needed to take up the leadership challenges ahead. The Today’s Skills: Tomorrow’s Leaders program makes a valuable contribution, identifying and developing the leadership potential that exists amongst the group training network’s 35,000 apprentices and trainees.

Each year 20 group training apprentices and trainees, high achievers in their chosen professions and potential industry leaders of the future, are chosen to participate in an intensive program held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. They come representing all states and territories and from varied industry backgrounds. The creative learning environment of Today’ Skills: Tomorrow’s Leaders is a unique opportunity for participants to develop their leadership and self management skills. They are challenged to take their current training successes to the next level and provided with practical tools to assist in clarifying their vision for the future and in working towards making this a reality.

The Governor-General of Australia (GTA Patron) has launched the program at Government House since 2004 where 80 invited guests comprising government representatives, industry leaders, VET sector stakeholders, GTOs and host employers have been present to lend their support to the program.

The inaugural 3 day program in 2004 has developed into the current 5 day residential event where program content has been designed by Ian Hutchinson (Employee Engagement Specialist) to assist participants to be more in control of their work/life situations and to be able to make better informed decisions resulting in increased productivity, motivation and satisfaction at work and in life generally. The program also includes attending Question Time at Parliament House and meeting with key MPs.
