WorldSkills 2007: Mark Williams
Mark Williams, an apprentice welder from Dubbo NSW, will be representing Australia in the WorldSkills 2007 International Competition in Shizuoka City, Japan.
Mark became interested in welding after completing a TAFE Delivered Vocational Education and Training ("TVET") course in Year Nine of high school. Upon finishing high school Mark commenced his welding apprenticeship, constructing metal crates used to transport livestock across rural Australia.
His skills in welding have seen Mark receive a Gold Medal in the Welding category at the 2005 NSW Macquarie Regional WorldSkills competition and Gold at the 2006 National WorldSkills competition.
Now in the third year of his apprenticeship Mark is a member of the Australian WorldSkills team, the Skillaroos. When we catch up with him, Mark is training in Newcastle NSW for the international WorldSkills competition that will take place in November 2007.
