UTS Engineering – Women in Engineering
Amy Burrows is studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and a Diploma in Engineering Practice at UTS.
We join her in a series of discussions about her engineering journey. In this, the final of our series, she tells us about the Women in Engineering & IT Program. She recounts the benefits to her development and she herself is contributing through her involvement in the Lucy Mentoring Program.
The Women in Engineering & IT Program is a longstanding initiative since 1981. It works to redress the low rate of female participation in the field by promoting the involvement of women in the industry, in the Faculty and in research at UTS, and by networking with professionals from engineering and IT organisations.
The Lucy Mentoring Program is a leadership program for female university students in professional fields where women are underrepresented. The program connects students with industry mentors to educate and motivate. UTS is the only university to offer this to students of engineering and information technology.
