Unfinished Joinery at WorldSkills 08
After placing second at WS06, Joel feels he has some unfinished business with WorldSkills and wants to come back and prove he can win this year!
About Joinery At WorldSkills:
Using mostly recycled material and thermally modified timber, the competitors in the joinery category will be producing an awning window with decorative arcatrave on the outside.
About Joel:
Joel is 23 years old and lives in Queenstown Tasmania. He works for West Coast Wilderness Railway as a joiner and carpenter. His main duties in his job are repairs and maintenance to the railway carriages, building maintenance, fixing daily water leaks and getting the carriages ready for service. Joel competed at WS06 in Melbourne and came second.
Joel has a passion for working with native timbers and enjoys having a product at the end of the day that he made. He has aspirations to one-day design and build one off bespoke furniture pieces of his own. He’s already making his own furniture with his favourite piece being the reception desk used at the Straughn Village in Tassie.
