Roasting Coffee

Joaquin Hernandez, coffee roaster and business owner, has run Cafe Hernandez, in Sydney's King's Cross, for the last 36 years and has people continually coming back, whether it be every day, or every week.

Joaquin learnt about roasting coffee from his family in Spain, where he originates. When he moved to Australia - which he knew nothing about it except from two films that he had seen - Joaquin got a job at Nestle in Abbotsford, but after 2 years he established his first cafe and wholesale business.

When he was in his 40s, Joaquin would drink 20 coffees at day! Now he has about 3 or 4. He believes coffee is good for the brain: it "makes you think more."
