F1 in Schools Sydney Hub Partnership Regional Finals
In an innovative example of schools working together, Marrickville High School hosted a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Activities Day incollaboration with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS)’s Faculty of Engineering and IT, and Sydney Business Partnerships. Over 190 students from Marrickville High School, Marrickville West Public School, Newington College, South Sydney High School, and Wilkins Public School participated in this highly-interactive day.
Twelve F1 teams from the three secondary schools competed on the day to represent the Sydney Hub Partnership at the NSW State F1 in Schools Championships later this year. F1 in Schools is the world’s largest Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Competition. It requires students to design, collaborate, build, market and race a Formula One model race car down a 25m track – putting into practice team work, industrial design and engineering skills.
