Maths Deadlys

Making maths fun!

This was the Fifth Maths Deadlys to be held, with Nepean Community & Neighbourhood Services partnering with services such as Schools Industry Partnership and Cranebrook High School. Cranebrook High School students and teachers run the event with NCNS staff assisting on the day. Players from Penrith Panthers joined in for some fun, and there were also representatives from the Defence Force helping out.

Seven primary schools from the local area sent teams of four children to compete in a variety of maths games. In the lead up to the event, the teams prepare for the challenges, coming up with team names and posters, and practicing hard.

Aimed at making maths fun, the Maths Deadlys help Aboriginal kids learn by teaching them in different ways, rather than just out of a text book. The teams work hard to complete each challenge, including problem solving, navigation, fast money and Jeopardy and Times Tables Challenge earning points along the way.
