Have a Gӧ work placement program between TAFE SWSi and IKEA

A design industry and educationinitiative between TAFE SWSi and international home furnishing specialist IKEA, has provided SWSi design students with a unique experience working in interior and visual merchandising through a work placement partnership program called ‘Have a Gӧ’.

The ‘Have a Gӧ’ work placement program, now in its second year, has enabled 17 Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration and Diploma of Product Design students from SWSi’s Lidcombe College to undergo practical work experience at IKEA’s Homebush site over the course of 2013, culminating in a recent end of year presentation to IKEA representatives.

Four teams of four to five students each worked closely with the IKEA teams in interior design and visual merchandising. The student participants learned about the IKEA way of styling and the business concepts, whilst also being coached by the professional communication and interior design team at the store.
