Government Skills Australia CEO Karen Taylor discusses opportunities in the public sector
Government Skills Australia (GSA) is a national Industry Skills Council (ISC) for the government and community safety sectors representing the Vocational Education and Training (VET) and workforce interests of Correctional Services, Local Government, Public Safety, Public Sector and Water.
Karen Taylor started her career in Human Services where she provided support and counselling for a range of people, including those with disabilities and in need of accommodation assistance. She then moved to roles within education and training.
Initially appointed as the State Training Manager for Mission Australia, an organisation that provides a range of training programes, including accredited training as an RTO. She progressed to a national role prior to being appointed as the Deputy CEO of the Australian Institute of Management in South Australia where she managed the organisation’s policies, procedures, and matters to ensure adherence to National standards and the maintenance of RTO and Higher Education accreditation. She has also undertaken work as a consultant.
Karen Taylor has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Politics and postgraduate qualifications in counselling and therapy. She holds the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
