International Women’s Day 2014

On March 8th each year we celebrate International Women's Day. A day to recognise the social, political and economic achievements of women. In 2014 the theme is INSPIRING CHANGE - a call to challenge the status quo for women's equality.

There are few places where this change is needed more than in the traditional trades. Careers in areas such as construction, plumbing and automotive were seen as the sole domain for men. These jobs were seen as too dangerous, too dirty and too difficult for women.

Advances in workplace safety, technology, training and most importantly perception, these careers are no longer off-limits for women.

From March 3rd, SkillsOne Television programming is dedicated to celebrating the women who are breaking down the barriers to pursue careers in non traditional trades. View the TV Guide here.
