AgriFood Skills Australia has reached an important stage in the merger process for the three rural industry training packages: Rural Production (RTE03), Amenity Horticulture (RTF03) and Conservation and Land Management (RTD03). These training packages are being merged into a single Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package (AHC09)
I am pleased to advise you that we have now completed loading the AHC09 Training Package onto the AgriFood web site for final validation and the components can be read on our website: Please click here to go to the training package web page and the links to the Qualifications Table, Skills Sets and Competency Standards.
Your feedback
We invite you to browse this content and to make any comments or feedback through the Continuous Improvement Register on the AgriFood website. Please click here to access the Improvement Register.
The AHC training package qualifications (90) and competency standards (800), and the associated documents, will be available for feedback UNTIL 18 MAY 2009.
Your feedback will be considered at the completion of the validation period and appropriate adjustments will be incorporated. Please note that the key improvements to the AHC09 Training Package revolve around providing more clarity in the Competency Standards so they can be viewed as a stronger specification for assessment and a response to increased flexibility with the Qualifications.
A number of new Competency Standards have been developed along with improvements to others. The remaining Standards have been reformatted to meet the current template requirements. There has been no change to the elements, performance criteria and skills and knowledge within the remaining AHC09 coded standards. Excellent feedback has been received from a number of stakeholders about the approach taken to improve the competency standards.
Bridging the gap
The AgriFood training package reforms reflect a new Bridging the Gap (BTG) model, which we have been developing to establish greater clarity and understanding of the endorsed components of training packages and to provide an emphasis on training and assessment programs that deliver training package outcomes. More information about Bridging the gap and the associated strategies and products will be released through the links on the AgriFood website during the next week or two.
Other training package reviews
AgriFood is finalising the details of a number of projects that will be implemented throughout the year. All of the projects are fundamental components of the Bridging the gap reforms, which include support products or provide professional development on the implementation of AgriFood training packages.
- Animal Care - The Animal Care and Management Training Package review is progressing well and will follow closely behind the steps indentified for the AHC09 Training Package.
- Food Processing - The FDF09 Food Processing Training Package is going through final validation and will be submitted for endorsement at the same time as AHC09.
- Seafood - The final Training package under review is SFI09 Seafood Industry Training Package. This project will complete the AgriFood major reviews for this year (six training packages - three of them merged).
