On the Ground
Ron Quin is an Certificate II-trained arborist - a tree surgeon i.e. a professional in the practice of arboriculture: the management and maintenance of trees - who has his own business called Essential Tree Services. Ron has 3 guys working for him all year round, and is refererred to by the boys as "The Master"!
The tree climbers demonstrate how they carry out their job, safely and effectively managing trees, shrubs, vines and other plants around houses and urban settings. It is hard, and physically stimulating work, but they get a real sense of team achievement from putting their skills to work.
Arborists are quite different to those who work in forestry or logging, with arborists focusing on health and safety of individual trees, or wooded landscapes, rather than clearing forests/landscapes for development, or for harvesting wood.
