InShape

James Sutherland is a personal trainer at InShape. He chats to SkillsOne about what's involved in the job, how to use some fitness equipment, and how to get fit, inshape, or tone up in the safest way for us. He chats about how to motivate people, and where he sees the industry heading.

About James:

James has worked as a personal trainer for over 4 years, its a very rewarding profession and has given him many opportunities.

He spends most of his working time at Inshape in Alexandria giving Personal training session to my base of 15 clients, Managing a team of 7 personal trainers, teaching RPM (Spin), Body Pump and managing our Group Fitness team.

He also teach classes at various other gyms and health clubs in the Sydney area and take a outdoor cycling bunch every Saturday.

His days will generally start early (6am training sessions or classes) and finish sometimes as late as 9pm.

He has been lucky enough to be involved with Charity fundraising for Oncology Childrens Foundation which has allowed him to travel to Sri Lanka, on a cycling adventure challenge.

Before being a Personal Trainer he was working in retail, however, he never really enjoyed this, but it did give him good customer service skills.

He loves training people, and trying to get the best effort out of them. It is great to get results, but often a very challenging process.
