The Secret is in the Sauce
The Upper Crust is a family business located on Sydney's Northern beaches. They serve delectable pies that have won several awards in prestigious national pie competitions.
Open since 1948, the locals queue for the gourmet selections, often from miles away.
Owner Anthony Gualdi comes from a 100 years tradition of piemaking, and recently sold the biggest Australian chain- Shakespeare's Pies.
He takes us behind the kitchen streamers and down memory lane, demystifying the noble art of piemaking, its place in Aussie culture and the peculiar satisfaction that derives from baking and eating this all-in-one meal.
