WorldSkills Australia Nationals - Brisbane 2010 - Restaurant Services
"Look out London here comes Australia" are Kate Crocker's words as she competes in the Restaurant Services competition at WorldSkills. She originally decided to compete at the WorldSkills to compete with her sister who came third in a previous year and now that she has made it this far has sparked jealousy and pride from her. Choosing to do Hospitality in Year 11 she spent one night a week at Tafe going over the basics such as Silverware and table setting. It was from here that her passion grew and love for the industry. She warns that people shouldn't underestimate the trade. It is so much more than waiting tables as she puts it. It is about engaging and working with diners to give them a great experience in learn from what they might want to share. In the future she would like to work on an Island and even open her own restaurant with her chef friend Matt. If Kate wins WorldSkills she admits that the first thing she will do is most likely cry.
