Diploma of costume for performance, Sydney Institute TAFE
The Diploma of Costume for Performance is a nationally endorsed qualification for the Screen and Media Training package that reflects international standards and practices in the industry today.
With these qualifications the Theatre Costume Department at TAFE NSW - Sydney Institute continues to provide specialised theoretical knowledge and technical training in the area of costume and wardrobe services for the film, TV, stage and entertainment industries. This course is delivered by the highly regarded industry specialists currently working in the industry on locally and internationally acclaimed productions.
The focus of this nationally endorsed qualification is on education and training in areas of costume research, pattern cutting and draping, corsetry and undergarments, costume fitting and construction, theatrical millinery, accessory design and construction, script breakdown, interpreting design briefs, costume supervision, costume continuity and the design and realisation of complex and elaborate period, character and contemporary costumes for performance.
The students’ understanding of costume for performance is further developed with an industry linked work placement program. Student have the opportunity to experience work placement in both large and small companies that included costume and wardrobe departments is film, TV and theatre. Students and graduated from the Diploma of Costume For Performance at Ultimo College are highly sought after both during and as a result of their studies.
