The Warehouser
Melissa has enjoyed a career in warehousing for years and now works for Toll.
She talks about the rewards and benefits of choosing a career in warehousing.
Despite perceptions of forklifts, paper work and box moving - warehousing is actually a high-tech, interesting career.
Distribution is of major strategic importance to most product-based companies and has become more sophisticated with the advent of online businesses such as grocery shopping. It's important that warehouse and DC operations are efficient, safe, planned and well managed.
DC and warehousing is closely linked to logistics and freight operations and is part of the larger category of 'Supply Chain Logistics'.
Warehousing careers involve flexible shift hours, opportunities for overtime and good career potential in large or small Distribution Centres. There are many roles and traineeships in this field.
