A Young Horty
Sophie Honein is a young horticultural student in her last year at Ryde TAFE. She is passionate about herbs and vegies and manages this section at Eden Gardens, located in Ryde, Sydney where she has been for 7 months, and is in charge of ordering herbs, vegetables, citrus; taking care of displays, and giving advice to the customers.
Sophie has always been interested in horticulture. From a young age she worked on her grandparents farm in Lebanon, where she spend days on end helping them out. Sophie is so passionate about growing her own vegetables, hence why she has a massive vegie patch at home and was selling her own produce from the young age of 13. Sophie grows olives, peaches, chillies, squash and cucumbers. She hopes to one day move into a more senior role at Eden Gardens, and perhaps own her own nursery
Sophie's horty tip: you don’t need a huge garden, you can grow things just as well in pots!
