WorldSkills Australia Nationals - Brisbane 2010 - Cabinet Making

Tim Merriman first got into Cabinet making in year 7 at Yass High and automatically loved it, and is now pushing the skills boundaries to see how far he can go.

Tim's interpretation of cabinet making is traditional furniture.

Through training at South West Sydney Institute, Tim feels he has really developed his skills and has become more confident in his own abilities.

Tim is most satisfied in his trade when he sees a happy customer when he finishes a piece for them.

Nathan Caldwell also got into this industry at high school (Pennant Hills High) and wanted to continue learning.

Nathan loves cabinet making and likes how SWSI has a real hands on approach, focusing on all the 'nitty gritty'.

He comments on how there is something new every day and if you have a passion and want to get involved... Go for it!
