WorldSkills Australia Nationals - Brisbane 2010 - Landscaping
Richard tried a couple of different trades before landscaping, but it only confirmed what he thought all along- an indoor job just wasn't an option. These skills though weren't a waste of time however, as landscaping actually encompases many other different trades as well, brick laying, stone and masonry work, and concrete.
He was lucky to get work experience doing landscape construction through a friend, and never looked back. He completed his training through North Sydney Institute of TAFE, and is now working full time in Sydney, predominently on residential jobs.
As part of his training, Richard also had to learn both botanical and common names of plant species, how to care for them and what climate they work best in.
