WorldSkills Australia Nationals - Brisbane 2010 - Carpentry

Ryan grew up in Gordon and is currently living in Ballarat. He got into carpentry through Trade School, however his Brother and Dad are also in construction so he was exposed to this line of work growing up. Ryan works with his brother now and sub contracts to other companies.

The main reason he loves Carpentry so much is that fact he is always outdoors. He can’t stand being stuck in an office. He doesn’t find carpentry too challenging, as he feels he understands his tasks at hand and tackles them with a can do attitude. He has been in this Trade for 3 years now and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Ryan believes there are too many skills to even mention now, but if he had to say a couple, knowing your tools and the right ones to use for the right job and communication skills are key.

Ryan’s Trade School Teacher suggested he go in Worldskills and he is pumped for it to start, but slightly nervous about how it will all unravel.
