Women into Building Housing Showcase
Alan Ross said that “CPSISC is delighted to be involved in a project on the Queensland Sunshine Coast titled Women into Building Housing Showcase. The project is a house that is being built almost entirely by women from the design phase to the final landscaping.”
CPSISC believes that this project has national significance, both in terms of promoting women in non-traditional roles and raising the profile of the building trades.
Through the support of industry bodies, www.constructmycareer.com.au and CPSISC will nationally distribute still images and videos compiled during design and construction of the Women Into Building Housing Showcase. Industry associations, career advisors and schools will receive copies depicting the vast array of career trade/vocations of women actively participating within the building industry.
On completion, the showcase will be on display for two years. Through the project, The Buildmore Group is creating job opportunity, developing education pathways, raising awareness of the industry and women in building and construction. Proceeds from the sale of the property will go towards covering expenses funded by The Buildmore Group.
National Patron Senator Kate Lundy will be officially launching the Women into Building Housing Showcase on Friday 23rd April 2010 to celebrate the overall success of this ‘National First Environmentally Accountable home designed and built almost entirely by women’.
