Australian Childcare Career Options with ACCCO Principal Narelle Cossettini

ACCCO is a successful, industry recommended and well-established Registered Training Organisation providing qualifications in Children's Services and Outside School Hours Care. Established in 1996, ACCCO has been leading the way in quality training and tuition in Children’s Services in the VET training sector.

ACCCO’s principal aim is the provision of quality education, with particular emphasis on meeting the practical requirements of the industry into which students are entering and/or are currently employed. The college prides itself on its dedication and personalised attention towards our students, making sure of regular contact and supervision.

I have a background in the Children’s Services profession and have a large network of alliances that we utilise and consult with regularly to ensure that all training is relevant, up to date and will meet the needs of the employer and the learner. I have been witness to colleges that promise students the world and then unfortunately don’t deliver. This leaves students jaded with not just training and education but the childcare industry as a whole. As a result, the industry often loses some potentially valuable professionals of whom are so desperately needed in an industry with identified skills shortages.

ACCCO maintains regular contact with students and have a support network that is available six days per week to support students in gaining their qualification. This commitment and dedication to quality training has resulted in being nominated for and winning the 2010 Courier Mail's Career One Award for Training and Education Excellence for the second year running.

I made sure I commended my staff and their commitment in my acceptance speech as it is them as a team who make the difference. I only hope society values quality training and not what is cheap or quick because our children's future depends on responsible quality training organisations. The first five years of a child's life are vital in laying the foundations of future learning and the staff involved in supporting of these children need to know what they're doing.

On behalf of ACCCO, I would like to thank the Courier Mail and Career One for recognising our efforts in providing high quality training.
