About the Course:Certificate III in Motorsport
This qualification is part of the Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair Training Package. The apprentice undertaking this role will primarily service and repair the mechanical parts such as the engine, transmission (clutch, gear box and differential), and the suspension systems (springs, steering, brakes, wheels and tyres).
They will perform tasks including discussing problems with drivers/users to discover faults and carry out their own diagnostic procedures. They will repair and service engines, cooling systems, exhaust systems, diesel fuel systems, engine forced induction systems and clutch assemblies. In addition, they will repair and service manual and automatic transmissions, braking systems, hydraulic systems, final drive assemblies and steering and suspension systems. The repair of ignition, electronic engine and drive management systems is also encompassed in the vehicle mobile equipment mechanic's duties.
Subjects Core: Apply safe working practices; Carry out diagnostic procedures; Implement and monitor environmental regulations in the automotive mechanical industry.
Electives: Operate in a motorsport environment; Set up and dismantle temporary work location and equipment; Assemble and prepare a competition vehicle; Collect and log motorsport data; Comply with motorsport team and event safety requirements; Conduct non-destructive testing; Construct hose/pipe assemblies for competition vehicles; Coordinate operations of a motorsport team; Perform competition vehicle preparation procedures at an event; Perform pit lane/service area operations; plus more.
