Auto Mechanics in the Computer Age
Joshua Stemm recently completed an apprenticeship as an Automotive Mechanic with Eagers Holden in Newstead, Brisbane.
Faced with an automotive industry that has recently become immersed in technology, he overcame his frustrations with electrics to become an expert in electronic diagnosis.
As an indication of the changes in the Automotive trade, it was his previous studies in physics, chemistry and maths that proved vital. Although he found the apprenticeship difficult at times, hard work and persistence has opened up many exciting opportunities.
Nominating himself, he won Queensland Apprentice of the Year in 2006. John Waters, Service Manager for Eagers, was quick to seize on this dynamic personality, promoting Josh to Service Advisor.
An ambitious young man, Josh has already received a Diploma in Business Management (Human Resources) with a view to one day managing his own dealership.
