Automotive Trade at Wagga Wagga TAFE
We meet Wayne Jenkins, who shows us around the TAFE training school at Wagga Wagga TAFE. He takes us through the areas which work in mechanics, painting, panel beating and the heavy vehicle training. He shows us the range of vehicles which are available to work on - including the local firetruck!
We chat to Scott Rixon, who is a TAFE Student, who tells us about why he's doing the automotive ocurse at TAFE.
About the course:
Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle Road Transport) Qualification.
This qualification is for apprentice or trainee heavy vehicle mechanics in the road transport equipment service industry. You will work on equipment such as trucks and buses, learning how the various systems operate, and how to maintain, test, diagnose, and repair those systems and components.
Successful completion of this qualification would enable you to be employed as a heavy vehicle motor mechanic (road transport) in the automotive industry.
The learner must be employed or have access to a workplace in the heavy vehicle service and repair industry to be able to gain sufficient experience to successfully complete the unit of competence requirements.
