Skills and Thrills is coming to Queensland to inspire school students

NOTE: The Skills and Thrills Queensland Showcases have concluded for the season.

The Skills and Thrills Showcase engages with high school students, their parents and career advisers to promote vocational education and training.

Presented by SkillsOne Television in partnership with the Queensland Government, the popular Skills and Thrills Showcase takes career advice out of the classroom and onto the big screen - and it's free!

Through exhilarating showcases packed with fun facts and film – high school students (Years 7-12) will discover the latest on jobs of the future, industry trends, and learn which pathway to choose to connect their passions to a successful career.

As well as a 35-minute film showcasing local and Queensland success stories, graduates of vocational education and training (VET), there will be a live aspect to the showcase featuring a live Q&A with useful information from local organisations and agencies, as well as Australian VET Ambassador speakers and high-profile Queenslanders that have chosen VET to help them toward their current or future careers. There’ll also be all the latest facts about Australia’s skills shortages and high priority areas specifically identified in Queensland for future career options.

SkillsOne will showcase a variety of in-demand Industry areas, with a focus on the needs of Queensland, including;

  • Community Services, including Healthcare
  • Building and Construction
  • Tourism
  • Hospitality and Events
  • Agribusiness
  • Digital, IT
  • New-aged technologies (STEM) for growth industries, as well as Advanced Manufacturing.
