100km out of Sydney, planes approach from all different angles - what skills are required to line them up? Do you need to be a control freak to work in the control tower?

Paul started learning to fly at 16 years of age and worked as a commercial pilot before moving across to air traffic control - a decision which he has never regretted.

As an Approach Controller, Paul has the challenging job of lining up the incoming aircraft so that they can land quickly and safely in Sydney.

More than just a space age computer game, he thinks it's the best job in the world.

Training for air traffic control is usually provided on the job.
