It's not every day you get to make a difference to someone's life, but for David Howells it is a regular occurrence.
Being one of Australia's leading prosthetists, David and his team at APC Prosthetics, based at Northmead in Sydney's west, design and manufacture artificial limbs and improve many people's quality of life.
It's this experience and excellence that has earned him the nickname 'Professor' and the top job as prosthetist for the Australian Paralympic Team.
Don Elgin testifies to that. The bronze medal winning Paralympian lives and trains in Melbourne but travels all the way to Sydney to receive the best in treatment and repair from the 'Professor'.
