Under Lock and Key

Martin Rogers shows us around his locksmithing showroom, showing us the selection of safes, keys, security and alarms.

Martin tells us about his unique training policy where his TAFE apprentices are bought tools for each distinction they gain in their studies. He's a strong believer in training and encouraging apprentices to experience all sides of the business - including admin!

We also chat to apprentice Matthew Fenimore about why he's interested in being a locksmith - which is more than meets the eye!

About Locksmithing:

Locksmithing began as the science and art of making and defeating locks. A lock is a mechanism that secures buildings, rooms, cabinets, food, or other storage facilities. A key is often used to open a lock. Means of opening a lock often include what you know (a combination), what you have (a key or keycard) or what you are (biometrics). Locksmithing is one of the earliest forms of security engineering. Lock picking was one of the first methods of cracking security systems.
