Bricklaying at Nirimba TAFE

SkillsOne heads to Nirimba TAFE to learn about their bricklaying course. We chat to Rudi Meuwissen, the Head Teacher in Building Finishes, to find out just whats involved in the course.

He shows us through the new large facility - where he shows us the various projects students are undertaking in the course.

Brock Salter, an Bricklaying student, shares his project with us. He shows us the tools involved in Bricklaying.

Because bricklayers need to repair older buildings, they need to learn both traditional and modern bricklaying techniques.

Those learning bricklaying learn how to lay bricks and blocks using different bonds. The course also covers how to construct ornamental panels, feature walls, arches and columns.
