Fixing dreams at Indy: Part One

Since 1990, SkillsTech Australia (formally Queensland TAFE) has compiled a team of outstanding panel beaters, body builders and spray painters to form their Motor Body Repair Team.

This team travels to a number of motorsport race meets throughout Queensland. SkillsOne caught up with the crew at the 2007 Lexmark Indy 300 on the Gold Coast.

Team Leader and Lecturer, Errol Owen has been mentoring the team for 30 years and Team Captain, Ryan Stewart travels all the way from Bundaberg to take part in the action.

In fact, their whole entire team of volunteer apprentices and qualified tradespeople work extremely hard to keep the Coates Aussie Racing Cars, Carrera Porsches and Hayman's Electrical V8 Utes on the track.

They have just got their fingers crossed for a crash and with the Gold Coast's notorious concrete walls, they just might get one.
