Hello again,
As many people saw first hand, the launch of SkillsOne website and Television was a great success. Over 400 stakeholders including Federal and State Government, TAFE, private registered training organisations, educators and careers counselors - not to mention a range of industry groups - attended the launch at Sydney's iconic Overseas Passenger Terminal.
After being officially launched by a speech by Federal Minister for Vocational and Further Education Andrew Robb AO MP, and hosted by talkback legend, Alan Jones AO, the Institute feels very supported in its aims.
Working together to solve the skills shortage
The huge turnout signalled to us that many areas of the community are acting to address the skills shortage in Australia.
The feedback I've heard is that people left the launch with a renewed passion to continue to help find solutions and work together to close the gap on Australia's skills shortage.
It's true: the skills shortage is an issue we all have to work together on - educators, careers guidance counselors, parents, Government, Industry and the Institute.
Your interests are important to us
There was also a rush of people eager to take a look at this website and I'm pleased to say that interest in the site has remained strong since.
We are closely monitoring what people are looking at and what content we can increase. We have a wide range of video content profiling a range of skilled trades in case you missed watching us on SkillsOne Television.
Of course, this is a project that is built partly upon user generated television and web content. So, if you have (videos or footage that you own the copyright to) that showcases your industry then we would love to include it on the site or on SkillsOne Television. We think that all-to-often videos are made once and then sit around on shelves - never to see the light of day again!
