As part of The Institute for Trade Skills Excellence work to foster, acknowledge and reward excellence in trade skills teaching, the inaugural Australian Trade Teacher of the Year Awards will be held in November 2007.
The Awards will place the spotlight on the best trainers: those who help trades people turn into the success stories that they are.
The 23 awards of $10,000 will be presented to trade teachers or teams of trade teachers. Each of The Institutes eight Industry Reference Groups within the eight industries of focus.
Entry to the awards is based on self, peer or student nomination.
Teachers recognized with these awards will be those who go beyond the curriculum ensuring that their student’s skills are up to date with industry demands and equipped to find success and rewards within their chosen profession.
After the industry awards have been chosen, each IRG will nominate one of their Awards winners to be put forward for the National Award. National judging will take place between the 30 October and the 1 November 2007 in Sydney.
Presentation of the National Award will take place at the Australian Training Awards run by the federal Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) in Hobart on 8 November 2007.
