Cable Beach Club Resort in Broome is actively involved in Tourism WA’s Aboriginal Employment Program and has recently welcomed Jonah Cox, the first Aboriginal cadet to be placed in the Kimberley through this initiative.
Jonah is combining a Tourism Management and Marketing degree with valuable hands-on experience working in food and beverage and front office.
“The Cadetship is fantastic in that it allows me to gain experience in tourism and hospitality that assists me with my studies at Curtin University," said Jonah.

“I’m looking forward to working in a management role in the tourism industry when I finish my degree.”
Now in its third year, the Tourism WA Aboriginal Tourism Employment Initiative - Cadetship gives Aboriginal students the opportunity to work in one of WA’s top tourism organisations, whilst earning a healthy income and studying full time at university.
Cable Beach Club Resort, Broome is located on the edge of the vast Kimberley outback, beside the famous - as the name suggests - Cable Beach.
This is undoubtedly one of the world's most stunning beaches - a pure white band bordering a brilliant blue ocean. Just the place for lazy days and sunset camel rides.
Hollywood comes to the East Kimberley in Western Australia
The Kimberley is one of the world's last great wilderness areas. Covering an expanse of nearly 423,000 square kilometres and with an estimated population of just 30,000 it has fewer people per square kilometre than almost any other place on
Earth.
In September last year, WA welcomed filmmaking legend Baz Luhrmann and Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman to the magnificent East Kimberley to shoot scenes for 'Australia', the movie.
Home to the spectacular Bungle Bungle Range in the world heritage listed Purnululu National Park, the dramatic and romantic landscape of the Kimberley is set to feature strongly in the movie which is an historic epic set around the bombing of Darwin in the Second World War.
