Hello,
Once again it’s been a busy week for The Institute and indeed SkillsOne.
On the 12th of June we held one of the biggest Star Rating Scheme Award presentations yet. It was great to see such a big turnout and to see the Star Rating Scheme gaining momentum. We had 70 guests and in total 17 plaques were presented. A total of 8 three Gold Star stars, 5 two gold star and 4 one gold stars plaques were awarded.

Barry Peddle- Institute Director of South Western Sydney Institute was at the podium more than once as he, along with his teachers, collected a total of five Star Rating Plaques with the majority of them being 3 Gold Star Rating. We all at The Institute offer our congratulations to all at South Western Sydney Institute.
I also want to extend congratulations and offer a very warm welcome to all new Star Rating Scheme recipients:
We asked some of the recipients what receiving the Star Rating meant to them and why it was important.
The common thread was that the Star Rating Scheme brings recognition of excellence in teaching standards by industry, and that the gold stars bring a benchmark from which a comparison can be made with sister courses at other institutions.

SkillsOne also interviewed the new Star Rating Scheme recipients after the award ceremony. It is fantastic to have such a creative resourse available to capture these moments. SkillsOne certainly keep busy and recently went to New York to collect the prestigious Webby Award. This award is a testament to the dedication of a creative inspiring crew.
Onto other inspiring people - Australia's Trades and Skills Teachers. We believe that Australia turns out the most highly trained and skilled trades men and women, and that is why the Trades and Skills Teacher of the Year Awards were established last year.
These teachers deserve recognition for their dedication, hard work and inspiration. The Institutes' Trades and Skills Teacher Awards gives recognition to such teachers and nominations are already open - since yesterday, Monday 16th June.
So if you know a trades or skills teacher who deserves to be recognised for their hard work, do nominate them. If you are one of those teachers, please don't hesitate to nominate yourself! For more information, view visit the nominations area.
Until next time,
