National Career Development Week 2008
National Career Development Week is being held this year from 2 - 8 June 2008 and all career-minded Australians, particularly students and those new to the workforce, are encouraged to get involved.
NCDW is a week of celebrations dedicated to:
- Increasing awareness and understanding of the nature and importance of career development
- Promoting and encouraging Australians to take responsibility and 'ownership' in the management of their own careers
- Engaging Australians in active recognition and celebration of National Career Development Week
- Seeking wider community endorsement and ongoing participation in career development.
The Australia-wide event, which is supported by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, as well as CICA - Career Industry Council of Australia, aims to help encourage Australians to take active ownership of their careers and 'get the life they love!'
Those who need help with starting a career, changing a career, or out of mere interest and curiosity should attend a careers seminar or event in their local area (see the NCDW site, under the 'Event Search' tab). Industry/employers, educators, event organisers and media can also get involved.
Career development and management is important, and applies to people of all ages, backgrounds and working situations. We all want to realise and live out our talents, passions and dreams, so doing all you can to enhance your career is crucial, and this is what National Career Development Week strives to foster.
