Nominations for the Minister's Award for Excellence is now open for 2008. The Awards recognise trade teachers for their work with apprentices.
The Minister’s Awards for Excellence recognise and reward organisations and individuals who make an outstanding contribution towards the training of Australian apprentices.
The awards are presented by Federal Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Julia Gillard MP.
The awards will be presented on Thursday 4 September 2008 at Parliament House, Canberra.
There are three categories:
The Minister’s Award for Excellence for Employers of Australian Apprentices
Winners of the Employer awards category are selected on a regional basis. There are 22 regions across Australia and one winner is selected in each region. Offering the awards in regions allows for recognition of excellence in the training of Australian Apprentices across Australia’s diverse industrial base, as well as allowing employers outside the major capital cities to be recognised for their achievements.
The Minister’s Award for Support Services Excellence
The Minister’s Award for Support Services Excellence has been established by the Department to recognise the outstanding achievements of an individual working for an Australian Apprenticeships Centre. This Award rewards innovation and dedication and publicly recognises the achievements of an individual’s day to day work in ensuring excellence in working with Australian Apprenticeships.
Peers can nominate a person that meets the guidelines.
All employees (or authorised agents) of Australian Apprenticeships Centres are eligible to receive this award. Nominations close 30 May 2008.
The Minister’s Award for Commitment to Australian Apprenticeships
The Commitment award recognises the lifetime achievements of an individual in relation to the training of Australian Apprentices. A number of awards are currently presented in the vocational education and training sector to clients and stakeholders including students, employers, schools and registered training organisations, however, there is no award that recognises the achievements of an individual who has completed an apprenticeship or traineeship, continued to work in the trade and is now involved in training Australian Apprentices as part of their business or employment – a person who has progressed ‘full circle’ through the Australian Apprenticeships system. Nominations close 30 May 2008.
